Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln Race and Teakle Classic Lincoln Week Regatta

This is an overview of the different classes available for the Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln Race and Teakle Classic Lincoln Week Regatta. This page does not form part of the Notice of Race and is only intended as a guide to the differences between each class.

All classes will be “racing” with the intention to get to the finish line as fast as possible. Spinnakers are expected in all classes.

Depending on numbers some classes will be split into smaller divisions so boats with similar speeds will be racing together. For a division to be eligible for trophies, there must be a minimum of five entries, subject to minimum numbers being met, the divisions will comprise of IRC, Monohull Racing, Monohull Cruising. Multihull (OMR and PHS).

Depending on the number of entries IRC may be raced in two divisions.

Yachts can be nominated in IRC/Monohull Racing/One Design however additional fees apply for the second and third divisions.

Morton Trophy – first PHS Port Lincoln Yacht

IRC 

The Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln Race
  • For the top class racers.
  • Handicapped using IRC (current certificate is required to be registered with AYF)
  • Starts in the 1500 hours series for the Adelaide to Lincoln Race
  • Longer race (approx 40 – 45 miles) on Tuesday
  • Emphasis on fair racing courses, back to back windward leewards on Monday and Thursday.
  • Short course to finish by lunch time on Wednesday
  • YA Category 3 required for Adelaide to Lincoln and Long Race

MONOHULL RACING

The Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln
  • For the serious racer with or without an IRC Certificate
  • Handicapped on previous/known performance for the boat or the type of boat
  • Starts in the 1500 hours series for the Adelaide to Lincoln Race with an expected eta of <24 hours in moderate conditions.
  • Longer race (approx 40 – 45 miles) on Tuesday
  • Emphasis on fair racing courses, back to back windward leewards on Monday and Thursday.
  • Short course to finish by lunch time on Wednesday.
  • YA Category 3 required for Adelaide to Lincoln and Long Race.

ONE DESIGN CLASSES

The Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln Race
  • Must be in One Design trim with current class certificate
  • Competing off scratch (no handicaps)
  • Long/Medium race will be set according to the class.
  • Short course to finish by lunch time on Wednesday.
  • Emphasis on fair racing courses, back to back windward leewards on Monday and Thursday.
  • YA Category 3 for the Adelaide to Lincoln Race. Category 3 or 6 for
  • Long/Medium Race depending on Class.

CRUISING

The Teakle Classic Adelaide to Lincoln
  • Intended for modern fast cruising yachts
  • Handicapped on previous/known performance for the boat or the type of boat
  • Starts in the 1000 hours series for the Adelaide to Lincoln Race with an expected eta of <24 hours in moderate conditions.
  • Handicap adjusted after each race using Top Yacht System.
  • Medium race (approx 30 – 35 miles) on Tuesday
  • Never more than one race per day around the magnificent islands of Boston Bay, channel marks and PLYC Buoys.
  • Short course to finish by lunch time on Wednesday.
  • YA Category 3 required for Adelaide to Lincoln and Cat 6 for Medium Race.

MULTIHULL RACING

Lincoln Week Regatta Only
  • Catemaran or Trimaran
  • Handicapped on previous/known performance for the boat or type of boat.
  • Starts in the 1500 hours series for the Adelaide to Lincoln Race with an expected eta of < 24 hours in moderate conditions.
  • Emphasis on fair racing courses, back to back windward leewards on Monday and Thursday.
  • Longer race (approx 40 – 45 miles) on Tuesday.
  • Short course to finish by lunch time on Wednesday.
  • YA Category 3 required for Adelaide to Lincoln and Long Race.

SPORTS BOATS and TRAILERABLES

Lincoln Week Regatta
  • For high performance lightweight trailerable yachts
  • Handicapped using (Sportsboat Measurement System) SMS Certificate required.
  • Longest race approximately 20 miles
  • One short race to finish by lunch time on Wednesday.
  • Combination of “round the cans/islands” and windward leewards.
  • YA Category 6 safety regulations for all Lincoln Week races.
