2018 DATES

Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race - Friday, 16th February 2018

Lincoln Week Regatta - Monday, 19th to Thursday, 22nd February 2018

and proudly hosting the

MUSTO Melges 24 Nationals - Monday, 19th to Friday 23rd February 2018

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2018 Teakle Classic Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race and Teakle Lincoln Week Regatta.

The Port Lincoln Yacht Club is proud to be able to hold the 2018 MUSTO Melges 24 Nationals as part of the Teakle Lincoln Week Regatta.  We have worked really hard with the Melges Association to have these titles here as we are sure the waters of Boston Bay will be a great place to sail these high performance, one design sports boats.  With the expectation of between 10 and 15 entries this will only add to the great atmosphere that is the Lincoln Week Regatta. Once again our faithful sponsors, Peter Teakle, the Port Lincoln Hotel, the Marina Hotel, Commonwealth Private Banking, Sarins and all our Regatta daily sponsors have helped us to create what should be a great event. Our event runs smoothly thanks to our numerous volunteers and the tireless effort of Fiona making sure that the competitors needs are met, within reason.

But before the week can commence most competitors will challenge themselves with the 156 mile journey from Adelaide in the Gulf of St Vincent, around the foot of Yorke Peninsula and across Spencer Gulf in the 2018 Teakle Classic Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race.  “South Australia’s Premier Ocean Race” which has now run for 68 years can throw all sorts of challenges out to the competitors, but once they sail into the beautiful Boston Bay and across the finish line no doubt  a few beverages will be had and many stories told.

We welcome back our frequent flyers and for those taking on the great race for the first time -  Welcome  and we hope you enjoy it as much as the seasoned campaigners that keep coming back year after year!

There are whispers Datey might be back, a smaller but just as competitive “Scarlet Runner” may make the trip over?.  Also it will be great to see how Andrew Corletto’s new boat goes as the competition at the front of the fleet hots up. The great thing about this race is that there are the grand prix boats vying for IRC and AMS honours but just as exciting and important to the event is the PHS winner and everyone who enters is in with a chance of taking home the prize.

We hope the weather Gods play fair and let us have “Megga’s BBQ” back at its normal stomping ground this year as they have been a little unhappy with us for the past two years. For those that haven’t been involved in Lincoln Week, we race Wednesday morning and finish at the Port Lincoln National Park,  PLYC rubber ducks will ferry you ashore for a BBQ and drink in what is a spectacular pristine beach setting (just watch out for any razor fish moving onto the beach – best pack some enclosed footwear!).  Catered for by the local Rotary Club with steak and salad done the country way and always cooked to perfection (& they have vego options too), coupled with cold refreshments make for a great afternoon. Then if the wind Gods are in our favour it’s a relaxing downwind sail home.

Is summary the Adelaide to Lincoln Race and Lincoln Week is a blend of outback adventure, competitive racing, laidback country hospitality, lifestyle and a whole lot of fun.  We hope you can fit it into your busy schedule, it will be worth it!

Looking forward to seeing you in 2018
